| Dance Triennale Tokyo, originally launched in 2002 as a Biennale, is one of the biggest dance festivals in Japan. Every three years, choreographers and dancers of the world gather in the district of Aoyama in Tokyo. Since its third event, the festival has shifted to a Triennale, celebrating this year the fourth of its series. In Dance Triennale Tokyo 2009, 18 artists and companies from 11 countries (Israel, the Netherlands, Quebec Canada, Korea, Switzerland, Germany, Turkey, Japan, Finland, France and Belgium) will perform in the framework of the festival.
In addition to numerous performances and workshops that will take place at Aoyama Theatre, Aoyama Round Theatre, and Spiral Hall, a variety of dance-related programs such as showcases at the Showcase, a space located on the ground floor of Spiral, screening of dance films in Theater Image Forum, and talk events with participating artists at Aoyama Book Center Main Store will be organized.
Dance Triennale Tokyo 2009 will be a profound experience of not only seeing epoch-representing dance on stage that goes beyond borders, but also experiencing it in workshops, and filling onefs curiosity through dance films and talks. It will be an excitement of three weeks filled with dance and gathered artists of our times.
