The proscenium style theatres limit the location of performers and audience. Aoyama Round Theatre reconsidered the limitation and, as the result, it became Japan's first completely round shaped open space theatre. The 18.6 meters diameter round shaped floor is divided by 44 small elevating stages which can be shaped like steps and go up and down minimum 0 meter to maximum 1.08 meters. By manipulating the system elevations, the shape and size of the stage and audience area can be designed freely. The theatre offers the audience and the creators various opportunities of fresh surprise and deep impression.
